Julian Sedgwick est un auteur anglais. Après des études de chinois et de philosophie à Cambridge, il est devenu libraire, peintre, chercheur et développeur de scénarios pour le cinéma et la télévision, puis thérapeute shiatsu.Il vit près d'Ely au Royaume-Uni.

Chie Kutsuwada est une mangaka. Née au Japon, elle vit depuis plusieurs années au Royaume-Uni, où elle donne des cours sur l'illustration de mangas. Elle est sur instagram : @mcmc69. 

Résumé :

En vacances au Japon chez son grand-père, Yuki, 15 ans, cherche à retrouver sa joie de vivre et à calmer ses angoisses. Son grand-père lui parle de son métier de mangaka, lui montre les planches de mangas qu'elle dessinait, enfant, et parvient même à lui redonner le sourire. C'est alors que l'inimaginable se produit : un immense tsunami approche. Il faut absolument partir. Mais alors qu'ils fuient ensemble le danger imminent, le grand-père de Yuki décide soudain de faire demi-tour...

Ma Chronique :

Un grand merci aux éditions Bayard Jeunesse pour l'envoi de ce livre coup de cœur, j'ai adoré le concept livre et style manga.

On y retrouve la jeune adolescente Yuki qui part en vacances chez son grand-père au Japon. Ce qu'elle souhaite par dessus tout c'est retrouver la joie de vivre qu'elle avait avant et de calmer ses crises de panique. Elle va en apprendre plus sur le fameux métier de mangaka par son grand-père en lui montrant les planches qu'elle dessinait enfant, ce qui lui redonne le sourire. Sauf qu'un beau jour tout va basculer, un tsunami va faire des ravages, il va lui falloir partir. Sauf que pendant leur fuite son grand père va décider de faire demi tour...

Dès le départ j'ai été plongé dans l'histoire si prenante, addictive, émouvante à certains passages, captivante avec des personnages très attachants. Dès ce fameux tsunami on se demande qu'est ce qui à bien pu arriver au grand père.

Si vous aimez ce genre de livre où vous trouvez des dessins de manga en plus de l'histoire pour l'illustrée, je ne peux que vous recommander ce livre.

Julian Sedgwick is an English author. After studying Chinese and philosophy at Cambridge, he became a bookseller, painter, researcher and script developer for film and television, then a shiatsu therapist.He lives near Ely in the UK.

Chie Kutsuwada is a mangaka. Born in Japan, she has been living in the UK for several years, where she teaches courses in manga illustration. She is on instagram: @mcmc69.

Summary :

On vacation in Japan at her grandfather's, 15-year-old Yuki tries to rediscover her joie de vivre and calm her fears. My review :

Many thanks to Bayard Jeunesse for sending me this favorite book, I loved the book concept and manga style.

It features the young teenager Yuki, who goes on vacation to visit her grandfather in Japan. What she wants most of all is to rediscover the joie de vivre she had before, and to calm her panic attacks. She learns more about the famous profession of mangaka from her grandfather, who shows her the plates she used to draw as a child, bringing a smile to her face. But one day, everything is about to change: a tsunami wreaks havoc and she has to leave. But while they're on the run, her grandfather decides to turn back...

Right from the start, I was immersed in a story that was gripping, addictive, moving at times and captivating, with very endearing characters. Right from the famous tsunami, you wonder what could have happened to the grandfather.

If you like this kind of book, where you find manga drawings in addition to the story to illustrate it, I can only recommend this book.
