My mind
This book had been in my library for some time, so I decided to read it together.
The story of the series begins in Augsburg in autumn 1913, where we find Marie leaving the orphanage where she lives behind to work as a kitchen maid at the famous villa of the Melzer family, wealthy textile industrialists. She's trying to find a place for herself with all these servants, especially as the ball season is about to begin. As for the Melzer's daughter Katharina, she's about to enter the business. Paul, the heir, wants to distance himself from the family until he falls under the spell of Marie, who is still trying to find out more about his birth.
If you like the Downton Abbey series, historical saga, family secrets and impossible loves, this first volume is for you.
