Née en Angleterre en 1970, Santa Montefiore a grandi dans le Hampshire. Elle a écrit plus de vingt-cinq romans, été traduite dans plus de vingt langues et a vendu plus de six millions d'exemplaires dans le monde. Elle vit à Londres avec son mari, l'historien Simon Sebag Montefiore, et leurs deux enfants.

Mon avis

Depuis le temps qu'il était dans ma bibliothèque, étant un grand fan de tout ce qui touche à l'Irlande, romance historique, avec ce livre l'auteure m'a conquis hâte de découvrir la suite que je pense lire sous peu.

L'histoire se déroule en Irlande au tout début du XX ème siècle où deux jeunes femmes que tout oppose naissent, il s'agit de Kitty Deverill une noble à moitié anglaise, irlandaise et Bridie Doyle une jeune femme timide qui travaille comme cuisinière et qui ne rêve que d'une vie meilleure. Elles grandissent ensemble au château des Deverill et se lient d'amitié.

Mais leurs vies seront menacée à cause de la lutte pour l'indépendance du pays et pour leur amour pour Jack O'Leary.

Mais leur amitié va se dissoudre et seul leur attachement pour le château pourrait les réconciliées.

Un premier tome prometteur, il y à tout ce que j'aime dans ce livre le pays l'Irlande que je rêve de visiter, la romance historique, si vous aimez cela je ne peux que vous recommander ce premier livre.

My mind

It's been in my library for a long time, and I'm a big fan of anything to do with Ireland and historical romance. With this book, the author has won me over, and I can't wait to discover the sequel, which I expect to read soon.
The story takes place in Ireland at the very beginning of the 20th century, where two young women are born who have nothing in common: Kitty Deverill, a half-English, Irish noblewoman, and Bridie Doyle, a shy young woman who works as a cook and dreams only of a better life. They grow up together at the Deverill castle and form a close friendship.
But their lives are threatened by the struggle for independence and their love for Jack O'Leary.
But their friendship will dissolve, and only their attachment to the castle will reconcile them.
A promising first volume, it has everything I love about Ireland, a country I'd love to visit, and historical romance. If you like that, I can't recommend this first book enough.
