Piper C.J., auteur de la série fantastique bisexuelle The Night and Its Moon, est une photographe, une linguiste amateur et une adepte des frites. Elle est titulaire d'une maîtrise en folklore et d'une licence en radiodiffusion, qu'elle a utilisées dans son ancienne vie en tant que présentatrice de la météo du matin, podcasteur de hockey, et dans le cadre de documentaires audio. Lorsqu'elle ne joue pas avec ses chiens, Arrow et Applesauce, elle fabrique des tiktoks, étudie les contes de fées ou écrit de la fantasy très, très rapidement.

Résumé :

D'une beauté surnaturelle car elles sont de sang-mêlé Faé et Humain, Nox et Amaris grandissent dans un orphelinat. Inséparables, les deux jeunes filles se font une promesse : un jour, elles vivront ensemble, loin de cet enfer où elles ne sont que de vulgaires marchandises. Mais lorsque la patronne d'une maison close offre une fortune pour acheter Nox, celle-ci devient esclave de plaisirs au service d'hommes riches et puissants. Amaris réussit alors à s'enfuir dans les montagnes du Royaume du Nord, dans une forteresse où elle s'initie aux arts de la guerre. Malgré la distance et les difficultés, Nox et Amaris n'oublient pas leur promesse et sont prêtes à tout pour se retrouver. Alors qu'une guerre entre Humains et Faés éclate, elles sont entraînées dans un dangereux jeu de complots. Le destin des royaumes est entre les mains des deux orphelines... et de leur amour.

Mon avis :

Depuis le temps que j'attendais la sortie, je l'ai lu en lecture commune avec le discord de Korrigan éditions, un vrai coup de cœur.

On y retrouve Nox et Amaris qui sont de sang mêlé entre Faé et humaines, elles sont d'une beauté surnaturelle et vivent dans un orphelinat. Elles sont tout le temps ensembles, d'ou la promesse qu'elles se sont faites ne jamais se quitter et vivre loin de cet enfer où elles sont considérées comme du bétail.

Jusqu'au jour où la propriétaire d'une maison close débarque pour acheter Nox pour qu'elle soit l'esclave de plaisirs d'hommes riches et puissants. Quant à Amaris, elle s'enfui dans les montagnes du Nord où elle va apprendre à se battre. La distance les séparant ne change en rien à leur promesse. Une guerre entre humains et faés est déclarée, elles vont se retrouver dans de beaux draps, mais leur destin est entre leurs mains.

Dès le départ j'ai été happé par l'histoire des deux orphelines auxquelles je me suis attaché de plus en plus lorsque j'avançais dans le livre. L'auteure m'a entraîné dans le monde du surnaturel, des faés et humains avec brio, avec ce premier tome elle m'a conquis, hâte de découvrir la suite.

Si vous aimez le surnaturel, les romances F/F, la fantaisie, le new-adult je ne peux que vous recommander ce livre.

Summary :

Farleigh is just an orphanage. At least, that’s what the church would have the people believe, but beautiful orphans Nox and fae-touched Amaris know better. They are commodities for sale, available for purchase by the highest bidder. So when the madame of a notorious brothel in a far-off city offers a king’s ransom to purchase Amaris, Nox ends up taking her place — while Amaris is drawn away to the mountains, home of mysterious assassins.

My mind :

   I've been waiting for this book to come out for so long, I read it together with the Korrigan éditions discord, and I fell in love with it.

It features Nox and Amaris, who are of mixed Fae and human blood. They are supernaturally beautiful and live in an orphanage. They're always together, which is why they promise never to leave each other, and to live far from this hellhole where they're treated like cattle.

Until the day a brothel owner arrives to buy Nox as a pleasure slave for rich and powerful men. As for Amaris, she flees to the northern mountains, where she learns to fight. The distance between them does not alter their promise. A war between humans and fae has been declared, and they're going to find themselves in big trouble, but their fate is in their own hands.

Right from the start, I was drawn into the story of these two orphans, becoming more and more attached to them as the book progressed. The author drew me into the world of the supernatural, fairies and humans with brio, and this first volume won me over, so I can't wait to find out what happens next.

If you like the supernatural, F/F romance, fantasy and new-adult, I can only recommend this book.
