A few words about the author :
It will soon be twenty years since this seed germinated in his mind. Then, time went by, and the writing of these pages finally gave way to life, to its demands, its pleasures, its constraints, its contradictions. Twenty years have passed. Two letters, two stories, as many pretexts to make more room for writing in his life, as many reasons to write this first novel: News from G. Weirdo.
I had a dream, to be read. I had an even crazier dream, that you would share with me what you felt when you read these pages. I hope to have the pleasure to exchange with you on my page.
Best wishes to all of you.
"Since she is no longer here, I am a frail skiff, a damaged shadow,
an empty hull drifting without a course. Since that day, I have become someone else.
Something else. A shadow... When night comes, the darkness invades the room and lets appear,
lurking in the darkness, this grandfather with a placid blue gaze that makes my blood run cold... "
At the instigation of his brother Paul, Gabriel, in search of a new idea for a novel, gets in touch with G. Weirdo, a prisoner who is now only a shadow of his former self. Haunted by the memory of his first loves, the prisoner opens up without concessions about his past. His testimony reveals to Gabriel the story of a tortured teenager, from whom innocence was stolen. Between traumas and first love, the young man discovers through the words of his elder a world of silence where some family secrets are waiting to be revealed...
Skillfully mixing darkness and feelings, Des nouvelles de G. Weirdo is a poignant novel from which one does not emerge unscathed.
My review :
I would like to thank the author who contacted me to read this book.
What a pleasure to read this kind of book, I step out of my comfort zone with this favorite book, but no regrets.
I saw more of an autobiography while reading this book where we are told about Weirdo's life and why he is in prison. Hats off to you Gabriel W Eliane for going so far as to meet Weirdo and tell us about his life brilliantly.
A novel taking read in one sitting so I was spellbound from start to finish. I will remember the story of the famous Weirdo for a long time.
If you like this kind of autobiographical novels where the author goes so far as to meet the main character in prison, I can only recommend it.
