L'histoire commence au Québec où un noyé anonyme est retrouvé dans le filet d'un pêcheur. Une journaliste va découvrir le journal de bord d’Adam, un Français parti aux États-Unis au moment de l’élection de Barack Obama. De l'espérance liée à ce nouveau mandat au désespoir qui l'attend, Adam part sur les routes d'une Amérique plongée dans le blues de la crise économique. Ses rencontres, ses rêves, les retours sur sa vie, ses espoirs vont peu à peu modifier sa perception du monde.

La plume sensible de Philippe Ruchmann, son regard critique et d’une grande justesse, notamment en ce qui concerne nos sociétés occidentales, les personnages, colorés, parfois loufoques, souvent touchants, les descriptions saisissantes des paysages nous embarquent dans un road trip à la beauté mélancolique.

The story begins in Quebec where an anonymous drowned man is found in a fisherman's net. A journalist discovers the logbook of Adam, a Frenchman who left for the United States when Barack Obama was elected. From the hope linked to this new mandate to the despair that awaits him, Adam sets out on the roads of an America plunged into the blues of the economic crisis. His encounters, his dreams, his look back on his life, his hopes will gradually change his perception of the world.

Philippe Ruchmann's sensitive pen, his critical and very accurate look at our Western societies, the colorful, sometimes zany, often touching characters, the striking descriptions of the landscapes take us on a road trip of melancholic beauty.

Obama Blues is one of those novels that are not easily forgotten.

Je tiens à remercier les éditions Librinova pour m'avoir permis de lire ce livre.

Tout commence au Québec où un corps est retrouvé dans un filet de pêcheurs. Une journaliste va tomber sur un journal de bord du fameux Adam , un français étant aux États-Unis lors de l’élection de Barack Obama. Il va faire un road trip sur les routes d'Amérique lors de cette fameuse crise économique et rencontrer pas mal de personnes.

Un livre lu d'une traite tellement j'ai de suite accroché à l'histoire si prenante, captivante, addictive, remplie de suspens et de rebondissements avec des personnages très attachants. Hâte de lire d'autres livres de cet auteur tellement j'adore sa plume si addictive.

It all starts in Quebec where a body is found in a fisherman's net. A journalist comes across a logbook of the famous Adam, a Frenchman who was in the United States during the election of Barack Obama. He will make a road trip on the roads of America during this famous economic crisis and meet a lot of people.

A book read in one go, so much so that I was immediately hooked on the story, so gripping, captivating, addictive, full of suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters. I can't wait to read other books by this author because I love his addictive writing style.
