Né à Sierre en 1959, titulaire d'un doctorat ès science de l'EPFL de Lausanne, Alain Hertz s'est établi au Canada en 2001 où il enseigne les mathématiques à Polytechnique Montréal. Sa passion pour les énigmes l'a certes conduit à sa carrière de professeur et de chercheur de réputation internationale, mais aussi à se lancer dans l'écriture de romans policiers dans lesquels le héros, l'inspecteur Maurice Manori, a pour seules armes un bloc-notes et un crayon, car il dessine des croquis qui représentent les processus complexes de raisonnements produits par son cerveau. Cet alter ego à la logique implacable est attentif au moindre détail, et réussit ainsi à démasquer des coupables qui pensaient avoir commis le crime parfait.

Biography of the author :

Born in Sierre in 1959, Alain Hertz holds a doctorate in science from the EPFL in Lausanne. He moved to Canada in 2001 where he teaches mathematics at Polytechnique Montreal. His passion for puzzles has not only led him to his career as a professor and researcher of international renown, but also to the writing of detective novels in which the hero, Inspector Maurice Manori, has only a notepad and a pencil as his only weapons, as he draws sketches that represent the complex reasoning processes produced by his brain. This alter ego of implacable logic is attentive to the smallest detail, and thus succeeds in unmasking culprits who thought they had committed the perfect crime.

Dani Mesho dirige la Fraternité du Verseau, une secte montréalaise qui a pour objectif de préparer notre société à l'avènement imminent de l'Ere du Verseau. Ce gourou charismatique semble prêt à tout pour réaliser ses desseins afin de sortir notre civilisation matérialiste de sa léthargie et la guider vers le chemin de la spiritualité. Maurice Manori, est inspecteur à la Sûreté du Québec. Ses armes sont un bloc-notes et un crayon, car il dessine des croquis qui représentent les processus complexes de raisonnement produits par son cerveau.

Attentif au moindre détail, il a déjà su démasquer des coupables qui pensaient avoir commis le crime parfait. Réussira-t-il à contrecarrer cette fois encore et à temps les projets de la Fraternité du Verseau ? Rien n'est moins sûr. Dès lors, une enquête s'engage dans un contre la montre riche en rebondissement.

Dani Mesho is the head of the Brotherhood of Aquarius, a Montreal-based sect whose objective is to prepare our society for the imminent advent of the Aquarian Age. This charismatic guru seems ready to do anything to achieve his goals in order to wake up our materialistic civilization from its lethargy and guide it towards the path of spirituality. Maurice Manori is an inspector with the Sûreté du Québec. His weapons are a notepad and a pencil, as he draws sketches that represent the complex reasoning processes produced by his brain.

Attentive to the smallest detail, he has already been able to unmask culprits who thought they had committed the perfect crime. Will he succeed in thwarting the plans of the Aquarian Brotherhood again this time and in time? Nothing is less certain. From then on, an investigation begins in a time trial full of twists and turns.

Je tiens à remercier les Eaux Troubles éditions ainsi que le site Netgalley pour m'avoir permis de lire ce livre.

On y retrouve Dani Mesho à la tête d'une secte à Montréal : "La Fraternité du Verseau" son but préparer le monde au proche avènement de l'ère du Verseau.

Quant à Maurice Manori inspecteur à la sureté du Québec qui grâce à un bloc-note et un crayon il dessine des processus complexes  de raisonnement produits par son cerveau.

Il est très attentif à tout ce qu'il se passe autour de lui et grâce à cela il arrive à démasquer pas mal de coupables. Arrivera t'il à déjouer les plans de cette fameuse secte?

Un livre lu d'une traite tellement j'ai accroché de suite à l'histoire si prenante, captivante, addictive, remplie d'intrigues, de suspens et de rebondissements avec des personnages très attachants. Hâte de découvrir d'autres livres de cet auteur, j'adore sa plume.

I would like to thank Eaux Troubles Editions as well as the Netgalley website for allowing me to read this book.

We find Dani Mesho at the head of a sect in Montreal: "The Brotherhood of Aquarius" his goal is to prepare the world for the coming of the Aquarian era.

As for Maurice Manori, inspector at the Quebec Security, who, thanks to a notepad and a pencil, draws complex processes of reasoning produced by his brain.

He is very attentive to everything that happens around him and thanks to this he manages to unmask a lot of guilty people. Will he be able to thwart the plans of this famous sect?

A book read in one go, so much so that I was immediately hooked on the story, so gripping, captivating, addictive, full of intrigue, suspense and twists and turns with very endearing characters. I can't wait to discover other books by this author, I love his writing.
