The Five Stages of Magic est la nouvelle série de Fantasy urbaine de l'auteur Jon Kaneko-James. Conçue comme une série de courts "épisodes" dans le style d'une série Netflix, chaque livre peut être lu soit comme une histoire indépendante, soit comme une partie d'une méta-intrigue globale. Parfait pour les fans de Ben Aaronovich, Alex Verus de Benedict Jacka, Seanan Maguire ou Daniel Faust de Craig Schaeffer.

Mon avis :

Je tiens particulièrement à remercier l'auteur et le site booksprout pour ce partenariat sans qui je n'aurais pas pu lire ce livre.

J'ai de suite été attiré par la couverture de ce livre où on y voit la jolie Sid.

Vingt ans auparavant, Sid avait tout pour vivre en parfaite harmonie, mais ses parents sont décédés et elle à du vivre en pension où un étranger barbu lui à appris les ficelles de la magie.

De nos jours l'homme qui lui à permis de s'échapper de l'hôpital psychiatrique est mort. N'ayant que pour seul ami le démon qui la hante. Elle va se consacrer cent pour cent à son travail et le dernier email de son mentor relate sur la disparitions d'enfants au pays des fées en banlieue de Londres et sur un sorcier à la retraite. Elle va rencontrer son partenaire Aaron et va devoir gagner sa confiance pour résoudre cet affaire.

Un livre lu d'une traite tellement j'ai accroché à l'histoire si captivante, addictive, remplie de suspens et de rebondissements avec des personnages attachants. Hâte de lire la suite.

I was immediately attracted by the cover of this book where you can see the pretty Sid.

Twenty years ago, Sid had everything she needed to live in perfect harmony, but her parents passed away and she had to live in a boarding house where a bearded stranger taught her the tricks of magic.

Today the man who helped her escape from the mental hospital is dead. Her only friend is the demon that haunts her. She is going to devote herself one hundred percent to her work and the latest email from her mentor is about the disappearance of children in fairyland on the outskirts of London and about a retired wizard. She will meet with her partner Aaron and will need to gain his trust to solve the case.

A book read in one go, so much so I've hung on to the story which is so captivating, addictive, full of suspense and twists and turns with endearing characters. Can't wait to read the book two
